Man Arrested For Allegedly Sexually Abusing A Teenager On Flight

Chad Cameron Camp, 26, was accused of groping the 13-year-old girl for nearly half an hour during an American Airlines flight from Dallas to Portland on Wednesday night.

Chad Cameron Camp, 26, was arrested after the flight from Dallas to Portland on Wednesday night, according to a criminal complaint filed in the U.S. District Court.

He had been sat in the middle seat next to the girl, despite other seats being available, and struck up a conversation with her.

Shortly after takeoff, Camp began making small talk with the girl and allegedly proceeded to nudge and lean against her, throw his earphones in her lap, and eventually place his hands on her knee and upper thigh, according to the criminal complaint.

According to KION-TV, a flight attendant became aware of the situation when she noticed the young teenager crying in her seat.

A flight attendant distributing snacks saw Camp’s hand near the girl’s crotch, according to the complaint.

According to a statement from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the crew moved Camp immediately and the airline requested a law enforcement response when the plane landed.

Camp was charged with Abusive Sexual Contact with a Minor and pleaded not guilty in court last week. She was supposed to be seated in the row alone because her father had paid American Airlines’ extra fee for unaccompanied minors (according to the airline’s website, unaccompanied minor service “is to ensure your child is boarded onto the aircraft, introduced to the flight attendant, chaperoned during connections and released to the appropriate person at their destination.”).

“She is already saying she doesn’t want to be on an airplane ever again”, the victim’s attorney, Brent Goodfellow, told KOIN.

Upon arriving in Portland, authorities detained Camp and escorted the girl to the gate, where her stepfather was waiting.

An American Airlines spokesperson told CNN, “American cares deeply about our young passengers and is committed to providing a safe and pleasant travel experience for them”.

Goodfellow told KOIN the 13-year-old is terrified.

As Camp behaved more erratically, the girl described herself as growing “frightened”, and said she “did not know what to do”. “This girl got abused for 30 minutes and no one was to be found”.

“She doesn’t want to be on an airplane ever again”, he said.
