A Biden confidant who describes the Vice President as “more comfortable” with the idea of running said the sessions are among “several logical and necessary steps” the Vice President and his inner circle would be taking over the next several weeks. Running by himself, Biden, who has always been a pragmatic Dem rather than a hard leftist, might face an uphill battle peeling off Sanders voters.
“I don’t think just any way that she’s going to end up being the nominee”. If Biden were to run, it would be his third bid for the presidency.
“Sources continue to speculate about something they know nothing about”, Biden spokeswoman Kendra Barkoff said.
When Biden ran for the Democratic nomination against Clinton in 2008, he came in fifth in the Iowa caucuses and immediately dropped out.
“I hope he does get in the race”.
And for those who say President Bill Clinton was able to survive – even thrive after his scandals…
Biden and Obama had lunch together Monday, and Earnest didn’t dissuade reporters from thinking that the veep’s presidential ambitions might be on the menu.
Earnest brought up an old quote by President Obama, that adding the former Senator from Delaware to the 2008 ticket was “the smartest decision that he has ever made in politics”.
A hasty trip by Vice-President Joe Biden to visit Senator Elizabeth Warren this past weekend has sparked new hope for Warren supporters that she will yet be a national candidate in 2016.
Though starting with a strong momentum, favorability rating for Clinton dipped recently as the former Secretary of State was grappling with negative news coverage, including her controversial practice of exclusively using personal email account and server while working as the U.S. top diplomat. The revelations appear to have damaged her approval ratings, especially on qualities like honesty and trustworthiness. It is not known if they would ultimately work for Biden if he does enter the race.
FILE – Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass. speaks to the Center for American Progress’s Second Annual Policy Conference in Washington, November 19, 2014. The problem for her is that being a huge fan doesn’t necessarily translate into rock solid Presidential support. To be viable, it likely would need to pull support away from Sanders.
Those close to Obama and Biden insisted on anonymity because they were not authorized to publicly discuss the vice president’s deliberations or the White House’s view of the 2016 race. I don’t think so.
“Joe Biden was one of my best friends in the Senate”, Nelson said.
Despite roaring calls for her presidential run, Warren has so far stated firmly that she would not run for the White House.
