One of three young Americans who stopped a gunman on a Paris-bound train this summer would have been at an Oregon community college where a shooter killed nine people if he had not been rehearsing for ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars”.
Others weren’t as fortunate. “This is something we should politicize”, he said.
Garrett did not say which standards Harper-Mercer failed.
“I heard a popping noise, nearly like a balloon popping”, she told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer.
But Eloy Way, the centre’s president and head instructor, said he sent Harper-Mercer away.
“You keep them in your prayers and just hope that at a few point in time, we, as a society, and as people, can learn to cope with struggles and difficulties and challenges in our lives in a different way”, Guthrie said before the Royals played the Chicago White Sox.
One student, 18-year-old Kortney Moore, told News Review-Today that she was in her writing class in Snyder Hall when a single shot came through a window.
Investigators have also taken documents and digital media from the school and the shooter’s home and auto, Hanlin said.
Boylan, a freshman at Umpqua Community College, also told her grandmother the gunman asked students about their faith.
If they said they were Christians, they were shot again, according to Boylan’s grandmother, Janet Willis. He said his hospital received 10 patients.
The grandmother of one of the Oregon shooting victims says her granddaughter told her the gunman was singling out students who said they were Christian.
“Her son said the shooter had people stand up before asking, “‘Do you have a God? Please remember the victims and their families.
He added that it appeared mass shootings were more frequent.
Law enforcement officials have not given details about what happened in the classroom. “Just himself”, said Alex Frier, a stage manager at the college who said Harper-Mercer built sets for theater performances last semester.
Armed with multiple weapons, Chris Harper-Mercer, 26, walked into a classroom at the college Thursday and opened fire, killing several and wounding others.
It is understood that, having searched his apartment following the shooting, the police found a total of 7 weapons.
They ranged in age from 18 to 67-year-old Lawrence Levine who taught the class. They were sons and daughters, spouses and parents.
The massacre on the Umpqua campus Thursday left nine people dead and nine wounded.
The gunman’s death means officials will never definitively know what compelled him to carry out the attack at the Roseburg campus, about 180 miles south of Portland.
Oregon’s top federal prosecutor said the shooter used a handgun when he opened fire on classmates and had stashed a rifle in another room but did not fire it. He moved with his mother to Roseburg in 2013.
Bronte Hart, a neighbour in Harper-Mercer’s community of Winchester, said he would “sit by himself in the dark in the balcony with this little light”.
Harper-Mercer also posted a three-minute video on the social-networking site, featuring IRA members, brandishing guns and wearing balaclavas.
He also tracked other mass shootings.
