Bilal Lone detained at Delhi Airport

Shah, who parted ways with moderate faction of Hurriyat Conference previous year and formed a separate unit, was yesterday placed under house arrest and not allowed to go for Friday prayers.

Shabbir Shah arrived in the national capital for a meeting with Pakistani National Security Advisor Sartaz Ajiz ahead of India-Pakistan NSA-level talks.

However, sources said that there were conflicting reports about Shah being shifted to an undisclosed location as it was also being claimed that the separatist leader was under preventive custody and was detained at the Delhi airport itself. We will go to Delhi and meet them. It is violation of their fundamental rights: Aziz, asserts Kashmir is very much part of agenda as agreed in Ufa.

The detention came as the two sides hit roadblocks over the contentious Kashmir region.

However, Pakistan has turned down India’s suggestion and said it would also discuss the decades-old Kashmir dispute with the Indian interlocutor as well.

Hurriyat leaders Mirwaiz Omar Farooq and Shabbir Ahmed Shah will be participating in a banquet at the Pakistani High Commission.

Meanwhile, the Kashmiri separatist leader Shabbir Shah reached New Delhi today on an invitation by the Pakistan High Commission for talks with Sartaj Aziz on the eve of NSAs-level meeting.

On the other hand, the veteran Hurriyat leader, Syed Ali Geelani, continues to remain under house arrest in Srinagar.

Kashmiri insurgents have been fighting since 1989 for Kashmir’s independence or merger with Pakistan. “This clearly shows that India is not serious at all about talks”.

India almost immediately responded with another statement issued as the response to a question to the spokesperson where it said that it had expected nothing better from Pakistan.
