Brandon Weeden: Weeden throws for 246 yards, TD in loss

Despite noticeably missing from the stat sheet, Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Tyrone Crawford still made an impact Sunday against the New Orleans Saints.

Two days after Weeden completed all seven of his passes to finish off a 20-10 win over the NFC East rival Philadelphia Eagles after starting Cowboys QB Tony Romo went down with a broken collarbone in Week 2, Jones could barely contain himself while raving about his backup in an interview with 105.3 The Fan.

“He did a great job”, tight end Jason Witten said. 500 with the resurgent Giants and Seattle coming up after the Pats. Drew Brees drove his team down the field incredibly quickly and the Saints had a shot at a game-winning field goal, but the attempt was no good. He took his initial look and threw it [for the touchdown].

Before then, the Saints’ biggest gain had been Drew Brees’ 30-yard completion to Brandon Coleman on the drive that produced Hocker’s missed three-pointer. Now Weeden is suddenly the man for the contending Dallas Cowboys, at least for the next several weeks.

That could be enough with the Saints depending on a banged-up Brees to lead an offense that doesn’t inspire the same level of fear it did just a couple years ago.

“I’m going to take that one“.

If the Cowboys are considering a quarterback change, it likely would come during the bye week.

There was one close call – a reversal of the third-quarter fumble call on a run by Ingram.

But twice they settled for field goals after getting in the red zone despite facing the league’s 29th-ranked defense. But he never got a chance to win it. “We’ve got to do better on that end”. In week three, Weeden completed 22/26 passes for 232 yards, 0 TD’s, and 1 INT (with Cole Beasley being the only wide receiver with any receptions, 4 receptions for 49 yards) in the 28-39 loss to the Falcons.

But the Cowboys could not otherwise control the ball in the second, netting only 25 rushing yards, while Weeden was sacked twice. They have really good backs, a lot of depth in their backfield. “Running out of time or short-handed in two-minute or what have you, then these quarterbacks like Brees make a difference”.
