Caitlyn Jenner could face manslaughter charges for fatal auto crash

The Sheriff’s Department is recommending the charge “based upon Jenner traveling at an unsafe speed for the prevailing roadway conditions”, the office told ABC News.

Jenner was driving a Cadillac SUV and rear-ended a Lexus that had just rear-ended another vehicle in a chain-reaction crash, according to NBC Los Angeles. Detective Richard Curry of the Sheriff’s Department told Variety there is a “50/50 chance that she will be charged”.

Because Jenner has no prior record, it’s unlikely she will face any jail time, said accident reconstructionist Daniel Vomhof.

“It is a devastating tragedy I can not pretend to imagine what this family is going through at this time”. Some witnesses have claimed Jenner was on her phone during the crash, which her lawyer denies.

Sheriff’s officials do not make official recommendations on charges.

“I am praying for them”, she added. At the time, she was Bruce Jenner, best known as the father figure of the Kardashian family and 1976 Olympic decathlon gold medal victor.

Jenner’s black Escalade, which was towing a trailer with an all-terrain vehicle on it, then plowed into Howe’s Lexus, pushing it into oncoming traffic.

It will still be up to the district attorney to file charges.

Investigators say Jenner cause a California highway accident in which a woman was killed. It is the district attorney who will what charges, if any, Jenner will face.

Jenner’s transition has played out in public over the past several months.

Following the accident, Jenner faced lawsuits from Howe’s stepchildren and talent agent Jessica Steindorff, who was injured in the crash, seeking unspecified damages related to the crash. However, the police said her case will also be presented to the DA’s office next week for driving with a suspended licence at that time.

The case will be presented to prosecutors for final review next week, after which it’ll be determined how serious a charge Cait faces.
