NEW YORK •Scotland’s Calvin Harris on Monday topped a Forbes list of the world’s highest paid DJs, earning an estimated US$66 million (S$93.7 million) in an annual payday that surpassed Hunger Games actress Jennifer Lawrence and reflected the explosion of electronic dance music (EDM).
A year ago he topped the Forbes DJ list with $66m (£41.8m) in earnings and his career shows no sign of slowing down with regular gigs around the world, Forbes said. In fact, this year, the superstar DJ has been named as the highest paid DJ in the world, beating off competition from the likes of David Guetta and Tiesto.
Harris was in the number one spot with the same amount previous year.
Although David Guetta’s sitting in second place, he’s got quite a way to go if he’s going to pip Calvin next year, with earnings of $37m, while Tiësto’s trailing closely with $36m.
Harris, who’s going out with Taylor Swift, hit headlines recently after a row on Twitter with former One Direction member, Zayn Malik.
He may be known as Taylor Swift’s boyfriend to some but Calvin Harris is a success in his own right.
Americans Skrillex and Steve Aoki rounded out the top five, tying with $24m (£15.2m) each. Tying for eighth place are Martin Garrix and Zedd on $17m (£10.7m) with Afrojack rounding out the top 10 on $16m (£10.1m).
