Free checkups helping Special Olympics athletes stay healthy

COMP Director of Clinical Education Natalie Nevins, DO ’97, served as medical director for MedFest, which provided the physical exam that all athletes needed prior to participating in Special Olympics sports programming.

The Los Angeles Special Olympics have seen 6,500 athletes representing 165 countries, along with 30,000 volunteers and more than 500,000 spectators, celebrate the unique and remarkable stories of perseverance, dedication and achievements of those with intellectual disabilities. The Los Angeles Region of Toyota gifted $110,200 to the Special Olympics. Michelle Obama is expected to attend the Opening Ceremony.

As well as being a top golfer, Jill is also talented horse-rider, proven by her Riding for the Disabled (RDA) NI Rider of the Year award she picked up in 2013.

“I want to have more chances to help athletes with disabilities and young children”, she said. “It’s all about them”.
