If you’re using an iPhone or iPad, it’s time to update, because Apple has released a major new version of iOS.
Virgin Media claims that, for people with a broadband download speed of 22Mbps (the UK average speed), the download will take almost nine minutes. The data can then be downloaded onto the user’s new iPhone.
If iTunes already knows that the update is available, an alert will pop up, asking if you want to update your device. Once you open iTunes, just click on the iPhone or iPad or iPod Touch on the top-right. Just connect to your Wi-Fi, go to Settings iCloud, and Storage & Backup Back Up Now. Tap “Download and Install“, and follow the instructions.
There’s no point hitting that Software Update button to see if you’ve got the update if your iPhone or iPad isn’t eligible.
But thousands of iPhone, iPod and iPad owners were left unable to download and update their devices as Apple struggled to keep-up with huge demand.
Early reviews suggest Siri is not yet as adept as Google Now, but at least one reviewer thinks it’s still a welcome new feature. It’s surprising how much the look of the system can change with a small tweak to a new font.
“We discovered a bug that prevents us from making HealthKit apps available on iOS today”, the Cupertino firm explained in a statement at the time. With Split View though, you can do something like researching a topic while reading a book, or writing a mail while also skimming through Twitter on the side. Furthermore, you will be allowed to import items from other apps to notes.
Once the OS update has finished installing, you’ll be given a “Hello” screen, and then told that the update is complete. Find iPhone and Find Friends apps now come with the iPhone by default.
The new version of iOS brings new features to the company’s built-in Health app – which can be used to track everything from weight and height through to your diet.
