Joe Biden on White House run: I ‘may not get there’

Amid continuing speculation about a presidential bid, Vice President Joe Biden told a Catholic magazine that he “may not get there”, suggesting that grief over the loss of his son could keep him out of the race. There are however other considerations to take into account, including the fact that the vice-president’s son, Beau Biden, died earlier this year. Still, his blunt description of his own emotional frailty on Thursday marked the strongest indication yet that he may be leaning against running for the Democratic nomination. A letter from dozens of major Democratic donors encouraging Biden to enter the race had a similar effect.

Joe Biden is still weighing a 2016 bid – which would involve taking on Hillary Clinton’s high-powered campaign and the insurgent Vermont Sen.

But she may have more company in the race than expected.

Colleen Nelson, Carol Lee, and Peter Nicholas reported that Biden met last Monday with his political advisers and discussed the benefits of entering the race in time for the October 13 Democratic primary debate.

“I’m prepared to accept that at the moment of conception there’s human life and being, but I’m not prepared to say that to other God-fearing, non-God fearing people that have a different view.”

Biden knows the toll of the campaign ordeal, and he knows it’s time to decide.

I think he has fabulous qualifications, incredible depth of experience and knowledge in every possible issue that could come up, and on top of that he’s just a very decent and down to Earth, very compassionate, caring person”, Quirmbach said. He has no fundraising account to pay for travel and staff, and Clinton, his (potential) rival has already nabbed endorsements from elected officials in more than half the party, according to NBC News.

“Of course Dr. Biden would be on board if her husband decides to run for president but they haven’t made that decision yet”, says the spokesman. “I mean really, let’s think about that”.

Meanwhile, another Hollywood source tells THR that it hasn’t been easy for Clinton’s industry supporters to sell tickets for her upcoming fundraiser on September 27 at the Los Angeles home of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group co-chairman Rob Friedman in the wake of recent controversies surrounding the former secretary of state’s campaign.

Biden has also slammed Republicans running for president-including Donald Trump, who he assailed by name as offering a “sick message” on immigration. I can see the principle that not all moral positions should be legislated, but it seems to me that if abortion is homicide, it does need to be legislated.

Biden has said he’s not sure if he’s emotionally ready for a presidential run.
