“So I prefer to do it on a beach, not when I have a three-page monologue the next day”. The Bronx native follows a similar mantra with her post-baby body.
The 38-year-old beauty is extremely proud of the incredible physical feat her body achieved in order to bring her daughter, Isabelle Amarichi, into the world.
“I’ve been really focused on not being “back” to anything, but being the best version of myself right now”, she told. “I don’t want to be pre-miracle”.
Exercise wasn’t introduced to Washington once she became an actress in Hollywood.
That said, she’s no stranger to working out.
Kerry’s workout of choice is pilates, which she’s been doing two to six times a week for the past five years. I cry, I laugh. “She truly believes that she can handle every situation, and I do feel that has bled into my life”. I get to go: ‘Where is my body today?
Considering Washington is the star of Scandal, she couldn’t waste any time getting back to the gym. How can I take care of myself and push myself past my comfort zone? Characters come into my life sometimes when I need to learn something from them. I got really injured while I was training and I needed to find a way to work out that was both rehabilitating and challenging for me physically so I could still stay in shape, and Pilates was the answer to all of my questions. She’s also a certified yoga instructor, and shares that her and her fellow Scandal actresses take regular hikes around Los Angeles as a group ritual.
