Minnesota man killed his family, then himself

Brian Short, a father in South Lake Minnetonka, Minnesota, allegedly murdered all three of his teenage children, and his wife, before turning the gun on himself in a suicide at their home earlier this week.

Police were called to their home on the southern part of Lake Minnetonka Thursday for a welfare check after the children were not in school. Three of the victims were found in the basement of the house while another was found in a lower-level bedroom.

Authorities were still investigating the scene and they have not revealed who they believe is responsible for the deaths and say they are.

Officers found the bodies in different rooms around the house, police said. The incident occurred at a $2million property lakeside home on Lake Minnetonka’s Saint Albans Bay, according to the Hennepin County Dispatch. Officials at the children’s school were also concerned when the children did not show up for their classes for the last two days.

One aspect of the police’s investigation will be finding a motive for the killings, with one area of attention being Brian Short’s internet company, the nursing database, which confirmed his death on Thursday.
