Bayern Munich are set to offer forward Thomas Muller a new deal in order to fend off interest from Manchester United this summer, according to German outlet Bild (via the Daily Express).
“Thomas is one of those role models who you can’t attach a price tag to”, he told Munchner Mekur.
“Nobody has to fear that we at FC Bayern lose our identity. Look at the team: Thomas Muller, Holger Badstuber, David Alaba, me – all from the youth team”, he said. We also have Manuel Neuer, Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben.
United’s attack have been underwhelming as a whole throughout the 2015-16 season, despite the side’s undefeated record.
“Louis van Gaal and I have a relationship that goes beyond that which is normal between a player and a coach”.
Bayern have beforehand stated that Muller shouldn’t be on the market, with its chief government Karl-Heinz Rummenigge rebuking the hypothesis surrounding Muller’s switch.
Louis van Gaal believes that Barcelona and Bayern Munich will hope to avoid being drawn with his Manchester United side in the Champions League group stage.
Schweinsteiger’s situation was quite different from Muller’s, however.
He has gotten off to a fast start for the Bundesliga giants this season with three goals in three appearances. He wasn’t expected to be a vital starter in the 2015-16 campaign, and the Bavarians have already added a more dynamic replacement in the form of Arturo Vidal. “We would be out of our minds to sell Muller”.
