New York fashion week-already the season’s most crowded and pushiest week of shows-has been even more chaotic. Finding designer shoes on super sale is a passion of mine, that I hope to share with you.
But back to the clothes. It continued with loose chiffon dresses and culottes, with vibrant prints. The accessories.
No, it wasn’t full of pantsuits and pencil skirts (quite the opposite!), but the collection was chic and office-appropriate all the same.
It all started with Givenchy.

Further uptown, Carolina Herrera showed her Spring/Summer 2016 House of Herrera collection at The Frick. Not that we’re complaining. “What I think American luxury means to the younger generation is a certain sense of ease, something that feels relaxed”.
Designers Marcus Wainwright and David Neville presented updated takes on bright bomber jackets with sleeves inspired by the fabric of parachute trousers from the 1980s and casual, but sexy jumpsuits with lots of zippers.
Gurung had a lot of celebrity support: His front row included actresses Jennifer Hudson, Hailee Steinfeld, Laverne Cox from “Orange is the New Black”, Kylie Jenner, and Solange Knowles.
Fashion Week began in 1943 and seventy years later the event has grown into a series lasting more than a week, across four global locations, with major sponsors, streamed live to the public.
“There’s always that tension between everything in the show that went from boyish to girl, back to boyish, because I love that mix”, she said.
And with one show over, the lights finally dimmed and the real presentation began.
We know that sports is big business and the U.S. Open is no exception, bringing an estimated $800 million in economic benefit.
Gold organza and damask articles and bead-embellished pieces added textural detail to the collection, which saw some of the duo’s most-recognizable silhouettes featured in springtime-appropriate hues such as white, lavender, lipstick red and several shades of blue.
Browne is known for both his craftsmanship and his showmanship, and thus no one was surprised when they entered a Chelsea gallery to see that the designer had constructed a one-room schoolhouse (recent collections have been set in a 19th-century English hospital and a cathedral). This is the first time any designer from any label has ever attempted such a bold move.
“I know everyone thinks their mom is the most lovely , but I really felt like my mom was the most attractive growing up”, he said.
With this week’s show, which ends Thursday, New York kicks off a fashion month that stretches around the globe.
