Sakho pens new long-term Liverpool deal

Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho has signed a new long-term contract, the Premier League club announced yesterday.

Of those that came in, Lallana could take a particular boost from one of his most notable contributions in a Liverpool shirt in what was his first appearance since going off injured on the opening weekend of the season.

France manager Didier Deschamps says Mamadou Sakho is “suffering” at Liverpool having been frozen out of the first team this season.

“I’m working and I’m a Liverpool soldier”.

Norwich’s positive start to life back in the Premier League is reflected in their standing in the top half of the table.

“They were able to combine better with other players”.

Home-grown midfielder Jordan Rossiter made just his second start for the Reds, while teenagers Pedro Chirivella and Cameron Brannagan finished a match which was fairly even from first whistle to last.

“There’s no two ways about it, Liverpool must stick with Brendan Rodgers”, said the former German worldwide maestro, who lifted the 2005 Champions League with the Anfield outfit.

“The senior players were outstanding helping the younger players and we will look for more of that in the coming weeks”. Although the Northern Irishman remained cagey about just when Daniel Sturridge will return to action, he made no secret of his importance to the side and the kind of football that he wants the team to play. “I think that’s the biggest bit, the players must go there and believe that they can do that”.

‘He has trained very well, kept professional, done his extra work on his fitness and he has got his rewards for that.

But the performance was still lacking in several areas – all eyes will now be on Anfield for this weekends game against Norwich City.

The 18-year-old seemed to impress almost everyone connected with Liverpool in last night’s 1-1 draw with Bordeaux in the Europa League, and the Dane is confident that Rossiter can kick on from his display in France.
