Nita Moseley, 33, was found dead by a neighbor in her La Marque home on Saturday, according to KHOU. “I thought maybe someone had broken in the house or something, and that’s when I found the unfortunate event that happened”, the man told Click2Houston, according to Fox News. Inside he found Moseley’s body. Her teenage son has been charged with her murder.
A manhunt for the woman’s teen son would ensue before his capture after the family auto was also noted gone, leading to his formal first degree murder charge Monday morning. “It is unknown at this time if the juvenile is involved in this case as a person of interest or a victim”, police said on Saturday. Details of the mom’s death haven’t been made public but an autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday, Jackson said. “They got along great”.
The teenager’s father also defended him to local reporters, calling him “a good kid who was dealt a bad deck of cards”. As for her son, “Apparently he got really good grades”.
CPS had taken custody of the child at one point, though the documents couldn’t be tied to the 14-year-old teen.
Authorities responded to a call in the 2800 block of Fannin Street in La Marque where the woman’s body was found. Officials believe the woman had been deceased for several days. “I’m angry that somebody would do this to her. She didn’t deserve this”. He was found in Miami on August 18, but he resided in Jacksonville with his mother.
