Ukraine Crisis: Russian Airlines Banned From Flying Over Ukraine

The Ukrainian government said on Thursday it would propose additional sanctions against Russian companies, adding to a blacklist of individuals and companies to face penalties for reasons of “national security”.

The government website quoted him as saying: “Russian planes with the Russian tricolor have no business in Ukrainian airports”.

According to the statement, “Ukraine is now facing an acute military threat – Russian armed aggression, which includes temporary occupation of Crimea and aggression in certain areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions”. A statement from the ministry of infrastructure said it would take effect October 25.

Ukraine also blocked government agencies from using software produced by the Russian antivirus maker Kaspersky Labs.

Russia and Ukraine will resume talks Friday aimed at trying to clinch a deal guaranteeing that Ukraine will receive shipments of Russian natural gas this winter.

Ukraine has accused Russian Federation of sending arms and troops to help pro-Moscow separatists fighting its soldiers in the east of the country, in a conflict which has killed almost 8,000 people since April 2014.

“The government is insisting on the immediate implementation of all sanctions defined by the decision of the Security Council”, Yatseniuk said.

The Ukraine government has also banned leading Russian airlines Aeroflot and Transaero from flying to Ukraine.

“The exporting channel should stay, but in order to increase effectiveness on the whole, we believe that the access (of other than Gazprom companies) should be mentioned in the state strategy”, Novak told a conference.
