Xbox One gamers can now play their favorite titles on a Windows desktop or tablet, thanks to the new streaming feature Microsoft added to the upcoming Windows 10.
On Monday, July 13, Microsoft said that Windows 10 PCs may not be ready for the launch of its latest operating system, and will therefore miss the release date.
Tell us, are you a Microsoft user looking forward to getting your hands on Windows 10? Game clips & screen shots will also be allowed to be uploaded to Xbox Live from Windows Store games. At the risk of sounding melodramatic, the revolution has already begun, and it gains steam today as Microsoft unlocks functionality for all Xbox One owners to stream their games to a Windows 10 PC. Imagine that Microsoft pushes a build which disables developer sideloading and Win32 support, locking Windows 10 down to a Windows RT state. You will be better connected with friends and will be able to access the gaming world more easily.
“Once you receive the update, your version number should be 7.7.16004.00000 or higher”.
“This means you can play the great library of games you’ve built for Xbox One on your Windows 10 PCs when you’re not in front of your console”. And you can even add them manually in case the Xbox team hasn’t done it yet.
After verifying the Xbox app’s version, go to Settings > Preferences on your Xbox One and select Allow Game Streaming to Other Devices, and check if Streaming is activated.
It’s necessary because Microsoft is not simply giving the OS away for free – the upgrade offer is only valid for a year, anyway – but pushing it quickly to existing and new devices in the next 12 months. Unfortunately you can’t use a keyboard and mouse and you will have to stick with the Xbox 360 or Xbox One controllers to stream games. For starters, game streaming from the console is now enabled for everyone who has, or will have, a Windows 10 computer.
The service will not be restricted to Windows 10, as it will work on Android and iOS-powered devices, following Microsoft’s new policy to make its own apps available across multiple operating systems.
