As it stands, the IAAF has approved just two Russians to compete, as “neutral athletes”, after they showed they had been training and living overseas under a robust drug-testing regime. The fate of Russian Athletes is still under dilemma.

Nineteen samples potentially doctored as part of the sample-swapping regime during the 2014 Sochi Paralympic Winter Games have been sent for further analysis.

Russian Federation is represented on the podium quite often in the Olympics.

Russia’s track and field team has already been banned from the Summer Games that start in Rio de Janeiro on August 5.

The International Olympic Committee already has a shortlist under consideration to be added to the program for the 2020 Tokyo Games.

“It says that some of our Paralympic athletes were allegedly involved in what they call a state-backed doping programme”.

The world athletics body International Olympic Committee reported separately on Friday 45 new doping failures from the last two Games, bringing the total number of positive drug tests to 98 since a retesting programme was launched. A decision is expected before Sunday.

The IOC said the previous first wave of retests had found 30 positive cases from Beijing and 23 from London.

The IOC’s news release cited 23 medalists from Beijing, but did not mention any from London. Against the backdrop of the current doping scandal engulfing Russian Federation, the International Olympic Committee reported 45 new doping failures from the last two Games on Friday, bringing the total number of positive drug tests to 98 since a retesting program was launched.

“We support each other and I strongly believe there must not be any collective responsibility for such issues in sports”.

Officials plan to announce a final decision the week of August 1.

Olympics: Russia’s track and field athletes are fuming about the Court of Arbitration for Sport’s decision to uphold their doping ban.

Those links will be tested after World Anti-Doping Agency investigator Richard McLaren alleged top Russian officials including Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko, a close Putin ally, had personally intervened to cover up hundreds of failed drug tests.

Usain Bolt looked in fine shape for the Olympics by winning his last race before Rio de Janeiro on his return from injury.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on Thursday ruled against Russia’s athletes in a decision seen as a key indicator as the International Olympic Committee debates whether to kick out the whole Russian team. We all want clean sport and a fair level playing field on that line.

Isinbayeva, the pole vault world record holder who is the face and voice of Russian track and field, told the state news agency Tass that the ruling marked “the funeral” of her sport.
