“I’ve been abducted”, the woman said in the call, begging, “Please hurry”.

Ashland police said responding officers found the woman and Grate – who is homeless – at a house that was supposed to be unoccupied. After obtaining search warrants, Ashland Police and BCI discovered two bodies in one of the homes on Covert Court, across from the Fourth Street Laundromat.

Authorities are trying to identify a third body found inside a house in neighboring Richland County.

The dispatcher asked the woman what was the problem.

Through whispers, the terrified woman guided police to the vacant home and Shawn Grate. Grate also allegedly kept a third woman, identified as Jane Doe, against her will between September 11 and September 13, for the goal of sexual activity.

Stacey Stanley was known to be missing since last Thursday, September 8.

Grate was being held at Ashland County Jail on Thursday, according to jail records.

Authorities received a call Tuesday morning from a woman who said she had just fled an Ashland home where she was being held captive.

The Ohio fire marshal’s investigators have returned to a home destroyed in a June blaze now that human remains have been found in nearby woods in connection with an abduction investigation. Authorities say a woman reported being held captive, leading to the arrest of a kidnapping suspect, a murder confession and the discovery of three bodies.

Argil Stanley says his niece made the decision to conquer her demons more than six months ago.

The coroner hadn’t determined Stacey Stanley’s cause of death or identified the second body in the home, police said.

Authorities checked the Mansfield-area site Tuesday and found decomposed remains in a ravine behind the house. The remains weren’t immediately identified, but authorities had a lead on the woman’s identity, Couch Page said.

The woman’s call led to the discovery of two bodies in the house and another in Mansfield.
