Armed robbery charges authorized against suspects in Craigslist ambush

Martens said that on the evening of October. 6 Jon Vanderwiel and his father, Robert, were following up on a vehicle they saw listed in a Craigslist ad, bringing cash with them to the 600 block of Linwood Avenue in the Urbandale area of Battle Creek but quickly realized they had been set up. “They were a few folks from Grand Rapids who were looking for a auto and were jumped by three attackers”.

When they arrived, police said the father and son were jumped by Logan, Pesche and a third individual.

He was arraigned earlier this week on a charge of possession of heroin after police said he was found with the drug at a house on North Broadway Boulevard where one of the injured men also was located. They were taken by ambulance to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.

All three of the attackers fled and the two men from Grand Rapids went to the McDonald’s at 1695 W. Michigan call police at 7:54 p.m.

Battle Creek police are reminding the public to be smart about online safety after a shooting at a meeting over a Craigslist ad.

Officers recovered the revolver used in the shooting.

Blocker said he did not know anything about their conditions.

Detectives were continuing their investigation.


Palmer said the prosecutor will review the case to determine charges.

  1. Haha, glad they got what was coming. Stupid not to meet at a police station, but then he wouldn’t have had a chance to legally shoot some scum.
